Joe Walton for Congress Fully Discloses to the Controversy over Democrat Spanberger’s Federal Security Clearance Application
Joe for Virginia is happy to have an opportunity to weigh in on the escalating tension between the Brat and Spanberger campaigns by reiterating the strength of his candidacy.

Powhatan, Virginia: The Joe for Virginia campaign has been following reports on the dissemination of details contained in a federal security clearance application of Democrat Abigail Spanberger.

We categorically denounce any violation of regulations and laws with regard to protection of sensitive personal and national security information without a good reason.  This is a deep gray area of which we are all aware and can think of numerous examples of good leaks and bad leaks.  However, we note sensitive personal information has a much higher bar for being a good leak than national security information (e.g, the Pentagon Papers).  Joe’s Libertarian streak is very protective of the individual and suspicious of the unintended consequences of government bureaucracy.

It is unclear at this time what information has been released by the government and under what auspices and to whom, so we will reserve judgment until it is clear what happened specifically with regard to Ms. Spanberger’s personnel file.  As more information is reported we will assess the morality and ethics of what the Representative Brat/Speaker Ryan-aligned PAC has done and potentially the questionable employment choices of Ms. Spanberger.

In the meantime, we do think it is important to consider the rather opaque background of Democrat Spanberger known only to refer to her time in law enforcement and as a CIA operative without much context.  While these are worthy public service endeavors, we are now hearing about multiple breaks in service, retail work, and substitute teaching in between public service role(s).  Who is the real Spanberger?  Is she abusing gainful employment in the public sector as vaunted national security credentials for elected office?  Can she fully explain her political philosophy or personal narrative? What is her resume and life’s work?

For that matter, Representative Brat is rather opaque as well while prostrating about economics professorship (while supporting backward economics policies) and seminary education (while fraternizing with racist misogynists and not denouncing the dissemination of Spanberger’s file) among other inconsistencies only coming to light with credible challengers.

While we all wait for answers from the Spanberger and Brat campaigns beyond genuflect and unverifiable public service titles, we would like to take the opportunity to reiterate Joe’s candidacy about his:

  1. Personal and political philosophy: www.ballotpedia.org/Joe_Walton
  2. Resume: www.linkedin.com/in/joewalton and www.joeforvirginia.com/jbw_resume/
  3. Teaching philosophy: www.joeforvirginia.com/jbw_teaching/, and
  4. Life’s work (including extensive details about his proven representation and effective policy-making): www.joeforvirginia.com/jbw_cv and www.joewalton.com

The root of the word candidate is candid.  Why aren’t Brat and Spanberger living up to that standard?
