Richmond Times-Dispatch Editors’ Opinions, One Week
to Go, and Donations!
Joe is happy to have one week left to
continue campaigning to be a “fiercely independent,” socially inclusive,
fiscally responsible, effective, and accountable representative for Virginia’s
7th District in Congress.
Powhatan, Virginia: Hello Supporters! We are entering the final stretch of the campaign with one week to go! We thank you for the support you’ve shown thus far so here is a quick and final update.
As you know, Joe was endorsed by the Richmond Times-Dispatch Editorial Board when he ran for the Powhatan County Board of Supervisors in 2007. Joe won that election and served with distinction as Chair accomplishing many important advances for the County of Powhatan while keeping taxes low and government small.
While the Times-Dispatch made no political endorsements for central Virginia in 2011 when Joe ran for re-election (and after endorsing Libertarian-nominee Gary Johnson for President in 2016), this year we’re happy to report that the Times-Dispatch Editorial Board has opined on Joe’s campaign twice.
In April, they noted Joe is “not a kook” (high praise for a candidate these days!) and “his combination of economic conservatism and social liberalism could prove problematic for the Republican.” Now today, in their unsurprising endorsement of Representative Brat the 2018 Election, they declared, “Libertarian Joe Walton is a former county supervisor who skillfully communicates his party’s “socially inclusive, fiscally responsible” message.” That’s exactly what Joe has been doing and we’re grateful for their commendation of Joe’s talent and positions!
In making their assessment of Joe this year, the Times-Dispatch Editorial Board invited Joe – the only independent party candidate to garner consideration by The Times-Dispatch this year – to be interviewed and that interview can be found on our YouTube channel (with numerous other videos) or directly HERE.
As Election Day draws near, we have made a difference in the campaigns of the incumbent and Democrat challenger by forcing them to the political center (because of actual poll and research coverage at 538 Politics and UVA’s Center for Politics – but we expect to far exceed their assessments) and fought to be included in coverage and the lone debate.
Representative Brat and Democrat Spanberger have tried to avoid Joe’s candidacy because their two-party system is threatened by an independent party sensible centrist. Thus, we’ve also made a difference in the voters’ awareness of continued polarization and gridlock in our undemocratic two-party system.
Because of all this, we have already ‘won’ and Joe will continue to support and advocate for these issues and other important socially inclusive and fiscally responsible public policy reforms after this campaign is over! Stay tuned to joewalton.com, Facebook @joeforvirginia, and Twitter @joeforvirginia!
As this final week begins, please keep the word circulating verbally with your social and professional networks, online via social media, and most importantly, consider donating money to the campaign to help us pay for the final week’s advertising and signs. You can send a check or use this easy, direct PayPal link!
Remember to Vote for Joe on Nov. 6th for a “fiercely independent” voice to fight for limited government, social inclusion, and fiscal responsibility who will take on polarization, gridlock, gerrymandering, and obscene money in politics!
Thank you again for your support and encouragement, onward!
